Tips For Catching Ants

Ants are just about everywhere, on a quiet path, by a stream, or under a tree. Ants normally inhabit places away from humans. Large groups are normally found around a colony. Ants will appear in a fine weather. Here are some tips:

Tip 1: Look near a riverbed, the edge of a forest, or in a meadow, especially in sunny areas with few people. You are more likely to find larger, better ants in these places.

Tip 2: Try to be gentle to ants while catching them as fewer disturbances will make it easier for ants to become quickly accustomed to their new environment and begin work in Ant Artists.

Tip 3: Some ants will excrete formic acid when over scared as a means of self-defense. If they are put into an airtight collection-tube, the ants will easily be poisoned and die from their own formic acid. A large container or plastic bag is recommended when catching ants.

Tip 4: You can use the rod that comes with Ants Artist when catching ants. Let the ants climb onto the rod and then carefully shake them off into the container.

Tip 5: When catching bigger ants you can pick them up from behind using your thumb and index finger. Be sure to be gentle.

Tip 6: Put some candies, biscuits and fruits inside of the bottle placed near an ant colony. You might want to partially bury the bottle so that the lid is closer to the ground. Cover the bottle opening with some grass. Ants will crawl into it after smelling the food inside. The next morning, you will probably see that many ants have crawled inside. Be sure not to bring food residue inside Ant Artists! Food can cause the blue gel to become contaminated and moldy.

Tip 7: Make sure to collect ants from the same colony. Otherwise, war would break out between them before they start to work.

Tip 8: If you notice that most of the ants from the same colony are smaller and only a few are bigger, do not catch only the bigger ones since they are soldiers to protect their home, but not capable of digging tunnels. They do not even feed themselves and would starve to death away from the main colony.
